Austrian boot
On the border between Veneto and Trentino Alto Adige.
On my way home, I decide to stop in an area known as an Austrian rear for the troops going up to the front lines of Tre Cime - Monte Piana and Cristallo - Pomagagnon.
Because of the numerous torrent floods in the previous days and the consequent gravel movement, I descend the dry riverbed to check the banks without using my metaldetector.
10 minutes after finding some tins, an Austrian boot emerges from the stones.
It still has the metal reinforcement on the heel, typical of the Austro-Hungarian footwear. They are engraved with the letter "J" and a scale with measurements from 1 to 5 indicating the boot size.
In case of wear, they were easily replaced thanks to the numbering.
